Testing information


The ACT and/or SAT are generally required by all four year colleges and universities to determine admission.


To register online:

* Online registration is encouraged with credit card or fee waiver.

Cost: $52.00 without writing; $68.00 with writing

The ACT measures the knowledge, understanding, and skills that you have acquired throughout your education. The test contains multiple-choice tests in four areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. If you register for the optional ACT with writing, you will take the writing test after the four multiple-choice tests.

The SAT tests students' knowledge of subjects that are necessary for college success: reading, writing, and mathematics. The SAT assesses the critical thinking skills students need for academic success in college—skills that students learned in high school.

The College Board has partnered with Khan Academy to provide FREE Official SAT practice. Go to for practice tests, diagnostic quizzes, interactive practice, and instant feedback.

Attention Juniors:

All juniors should be signing up to take the SAT or ACT by the spring. Make sure you are using all the resources available to you to help you prepare for the test.


Free ACT Online Prep Available for Low Income Students

Students who register for the ACT test using a low-income fee waiver will automatically receive free access to ACT Online Prep for a year. To qualify for a fee waiver, students must be enrolled in 11th or 12th grade; be either a United States citizen or testing in the U.S., U.S. territories or Puerto Rico; and meet one or more selected indicators of economic need.

College Day

Click here if you are planning a visit to a college. All juniors and seniors are allowed two days per year for college visits. Be sure to complete a college day form to return to the school after your visit for the absence to be excused.


Seniors and Dual Credit Students

If you are planning on attending a junior college or planning on enrolling in dual credit courses, you will need to take the TSI test to be allowed to take courses.  We will offer the TSI test at our school for 2019-2020 school year. We will schedule testing dates beginning in December 2019.


The cost for each portion of the test is $6; there are 3 parts (math, reading, and writing).  Please come by the counseling office for more information.

Texas Farm Credit Scholarship and Ag Student of the Month

Marsha Martin Scholarships – $2,000

Requirements to Apply: Students must be a senior pursuing a college

degree in an agriculture-related field and a member of FFA or 4-H.

Winners of the Ag Student of the Month will receive a $100 VISA gift card and will be

eligible for the Marsha Martin Scholarship Program.

Texas Advance Scholarships Available

 from University of Texas at Austin

Requirements: Students must submit an admission application by Dec. 1 to University of Texas at Austin and must submit their FAFSA for consideration by Dec. 1, 2019, for priority consideration and the final deadline is by March 1, 2020.

Most awards are $20,000 ($5,000 a year for four years).

Delta Waterfowl of Mount Pleasant $1000 Scholarships Available.

Criteria: Must be majoring in Chemistry, Biology, Criminal Justice, Veterinary Services, Wildlife Management, Agriculture, or other related field.


NTCC Scholarship Work Program Available for

Dual Credit Students and Seniors

Texas Interscholastic League Foundation (TILF)

Scholarships Available

TILP provides scholarships to students who participate in UIL academic and music competitions

Qualifications required:  Student must compete at the UIL Academic State Meet OR qualify as an Outstanding Soloist at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest (TSSEC) at least once in their high school career AND must plan to attend a Texas college or university.

East Texas Communities Foundation Scholarships

There are many scholarship opportunities available through ETCF. Click here for a summary listing of scholarships and their eligibility requirements. More detailed information and links to the online applications are available on our website at

ETCF has 38 scholarships to offer students this year. One new scholarship to note is the Peace Officers and Firefighters Scholarship. Dependent children of peace officers and professional firefighters with a GPA of 3.0 or better who are graduating seniors at a public or private high school in the 32-county ETCF service area are eligible to apply.

All applications and supporting documents must be submitted electronically.

CTE Student Scholarship Opportunity

Mahindra USA Inc., and Career and Technology Association of Texas (CTAT) have announced scholarship opportunities for Texas high school seniors participating in CTE to pursue a college education.

Students actively enrolled in CTE throughout their high school career are eligible to apply. Students must have successfully completed at least three credits in two or more CTE courses and currently be enrolled in a CTE course for the fall and/or spring semester of their senior year.

The American Legion 

High School  Oratorical Scholarship Program

Students will be required to give a speech to compete to possibly be awarded scholarships.

Scholarship awards are presented to the top three finalists in the final round of the national contest as follows: 1st place – $18,000; 2nd place – $16,000; and 3rd place – $14,000.

Those interested in applying for the scholarship must do the following:


1. Complete an application (ONLINE) include how the money will be used for the students future/help achieve my goals, include approval to use video/presentation, link for presentation, demographic, upload letter docs.

2. Submit a video/multimedia presentation 2 minutes or less, regarding how public schools impacted your life/career choice and prepared you to meet your future goals. (use your platform of choice and send us a link to video )

3. Submit two letters from teachers related to the student’s work in school

4. Submit one letter from a guidance counselor, principal, vice-principal, or superintendent regarding the student’s plans after graduation.
